e4Equipment was initially set up by NHS Training for Innovation (TFI) and is currently led by the National Association of Medical Device Educators and Trainers (NAMDET).
NHS TFI is a programme within the Department of Health and is responsible for providing evidence based training to support the safe use of advanced medical equipment and establishing the medical equipment training curriculum.
The curriculum provides a framework for training initiatives to support the implementation of new medical equipment technology into NHS Trusts.
This e-learning resource supports the development and updating of registered practitioners, and support staff throughout the NHS, in line with good practice.
Written and approved by Medical Equipment trainers and developed and managed by the e4E Editorial Board, e4Equipment consists of around 50 sessions split into several modules:
Infusion Devices - Volumetric Pumps
Infusion Devices - Syringe Pumps
Safe Use of Beds and Mattresses
Safe Use of Moving and Handling Equipment
There will be new modules available from April 2013 including information on the use of bariatric, thermometry, non invasive blood pressure and pulse oximetry equipment.
