Statutory and Mandatory Content

The UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) defines nationally agreed learning outcomes and training delivery standards for ten statutory/mandatory training topics for staff working in healthcare settings. The CSTF indicates which staff groups should have competence in which topics and at which level, and advises on minimum refresher periods. The e-learning sessions have been designed to meet the relevant learning outcomes in the UK Core Skills Training Framework.

It is the individual healthcare organisations responsibility to ensure that their workforce have the appropriate level of training to comply with required statutory/mandatory training requirements to deliver high quality, safe patient care and services. It is also the organisations responsibility to determine the best mode of delivering that training, whether that is face-to-face, e-learning or a blended approach.

The Statutory and Mandatory Content programme includes:

  • Conflict Resolution - Level 1

  • Equality, Diversity and Human Rights - Level 1

  • Fire Safety - Level 1

  • Health, Safety and Welfare - Level 1

  • Infection Prevention and Control - Levels 1 and 2

  • Information Governance - Level 1

  • Moving and Handling - Level 1

  • Preventing Radicalisation - Level 2

  • Resuscitation – Level 2 - Paediatric Basic Life Support

  • Resuscitation – Level 2 - Adult Basic Life Support

  • Safeguarding Adults – Levels 1 and 2

  • Safeguarding Children and Young People - Levels 1 and 2

There are also ten Level 1 and seven Level 2 eAssessments for Statutory and Mandatory training topics. For further details see eAssessments.
