This e-learning project is instigated and funded by the Department of Health’s Children & Young People's Public Health Programme, to support Healthy Lives, Brighter Futures - the Children and Young People's Health Strategy. It has brought together specialists from many disciplines to develop over 70 focused e-learning sessions to help improve knowledge and understanding, align attitudes and beliefs and increase skills in assessment and management for young people’s health outcomes.
The RCPCH, with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), other Royal Colleges and e-LfH (DH) have produced these very visual and interactive training materials following a detailed needs analysis and by matching curricula competencies of all doctors and nurses. It ensures that necessary skills can be readily acquired to assist young patients make the important changes to lead healthier and more active lives. Key within this is ensuring all health professionals have essential youth communication skills and understand young people’s rights to consent and confidentiality.
The materials have been designed to be used on a standard laptop or PC via a broadband internet connection at home or in the workplace.
One of the exciting features of these materials is the incorporation of high resolution images and videos clips, with a zoom function, to enrich the learning experience and increase visual accessibility. In addition, there are podcasts and topic-based forums moderated by experienced professionals.
Users will be able to plan and record their learning, and return to any unfinished sessions.
