e-Learning Venous Thromboembolism (e-VTE) aims to raise awareness of VTE within the medical community, in particular, the hospital setting and to address the challenges VTE presents in the primary care setting. e-VTE has been developed by the Chief Medical Officer’s Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Implementation Working Group in partnership with e-Learning for Healthcare.
Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) is a significant patient safety issue which causes an estimated 25,000 potentially avoidable deaths each year in hospitals in England. That's approximately five times the total number of deaths from hospital-acquired infection.
e-VTE will help improve understanding, enabling clinicians to take appropriate action in assessing the risk of VTE for an individual and then advise appropriate preventative measures.
