e-Den is a web-based educational resource for the UK dentistry community, delivered by e-Learning for Healthcare in partnership with the Royal Colleges of Edinburgh, England and Glasgow and the Faculty of General Dental Practice UK.

click here for a brief introduction to e-DenThe e-Den curriculum is designed to realise a competent, caring, reflective practitioner, able to develop their career in any branch of dentistry. It also supports the continual professional development (CPD) for dental care professionals and experienced dentists.

The curriculum is divided into four domains and major clinical competencies are defined. The four domains are as follows:

  • Clinical
  • Management and Leadership
  • Professionalism
  • Communication

Sessions have been written by subject specialists and are typically 20 minutes long. Users can dip in and out of the sessions as they wish.

e-Den was launched on 15 October 2009 to the dentistry community. Read more about the launch.

The first module of e-Den went live to over 1,200 dental foundation trainees and trainers across the UK on 31 March 2010. This first module focuses on patient assessment and includes topics such as assessment methods and techniques, good practice, and health promotion and disease prevention.
