The performing and interpreting spirometry programme consists of six eLearning sessions with the aim of upskilling healthcare professionals who perform and report spirometry as part of their role, helping them to feel confident in providing spirometry testing in the community. The programme aims to make testing more accessible and to reduce unnecessary referrals to secondary care which also works towards the ambitious goals set in the 10-year-plan ‘hospital care to community based care’.

There are 6 session project units:

  • Pre-test instructions and preparation for testing
  • Calibration and verification
  • Performance of spirometry
  • Assessing spirometry acceptability
  • Assessing bronchodilator response
  • Reporting spirometry

The training offers healthcare professionals working on performing and interpreting spirometry access to tailored interactive learning based on the latest evidence, although isn’t a substitute for practical experience and training. Access the Catalogue
