A new elearning programme for healthcare professionals who work with children and young adults has been developed by Health Education England.

The paediatric programme covers cardiology, diabetes and endocrinology, respiratory paediatrics and paediatric palliative care.

It is suitable for all health care practitioners who work with children and young adults including paediatricians in both training and career grade posts, paediatric advanced nursing practitioners, nursing staff, GPs and GP trainees, emergency department staff, physicians associates and community healthcare workers.

The courses include a number of elearning sessions and can be worked through in any order. They include self-assessment quizzes and a variety of interactive exercises. Certificates are available upon completion of each course, however the courses can be used continuously, when applicable, when dealing with a case in which they would be helpful.

The total number of sessions for each speciality are:

  • Cardiology – nine elearning sessions
  • Diabetes and endocrinology – 18 elearning sessions
  • Respiratory paediatrics – 11 elearning sessions
  • Paediatric palliative care – 21 elearning sessions
