Management of burns - e-learning available for paramedics

Rachel Gowland, 28 October 2020

As we approach Guy Fawkes Day, otherwise known as Bonfire Night on Thursday 5 November, paramedics and ambulance services staff may be interested in the management of burns module, part of the paramedics e-learning programme.

Written by paramedic Harriet Ashman and edited by burn specialist nurse Krissie Stiles for the College of Paramedics, this e-learning is aimed at all emergency care workers dealing with burn injuries in a prehospital setting.

For background information, there is also a Paramedic Insight podcast available on all major platforms in which Harriet discusses the topic with College of Paramedics CPD Lead Gary Strong.

What can I expect from the e-learning?
Developed by Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare (HEE e-LfH) and the College of Paramedics, the management of burns module is comprised of interactive learning experiences that are accessible on different mobile devices.

Each session within the module takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. By completing the module, you will achieve greater understanding of the pathophysiology, assessment and immediate management of burn injuries and contribute to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
