About the NHS Children and Young People's Continuing Care programme

These training sessions are designed to enhance and develop the knowledge and application of Children and Young People’s Continuing Care (CYPCC) for all health and social care practitioners involved in the care of children and young people with complex needs.

The topics covered include an introduction to CYPCC, the completion of the pre-assessment checklist (referral) for CYPCC, and the completion of the decision support tool (DST) for CYPCC.

The current National Framework for Children and Young People’s Continuing Care was published in 2016. These training sessions have been completed by regional and national colleagues specialising in children and young people’s services.

Feedback and evaluation is a continual process, and we would ask that all who complete the CYPCC elearning please provide feedback on the sessions’ content when prompted to do so, to support ongoing evaluation and review.

All the sessions have been developed in collaboration/coproduction, and we wish to thank the following organisations and teams for their time, knowledge and collaboration:

  • regional and ICB CYPCC colleagues
  • national CYPCC colleagues
  • NHSE SEND Lead
  • local authority colleagues
