At CoppaFeel!, we aim to give everyone the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer, by stamping out its late diagnosis. We champion healthy behaviour change by increasing knowledge and confidence around the importance of breast checking, particularly in younger people who may not be aware of their risk of developing breast cancer.
This course supports healthcare professionals to promote the breast awareness message. It provides information on delivering breast cancer education and health promotion, enabling you to empower your patients with the correct knowledge and reassurance that they know their bodies best.
The module covers the following key areas:
● understanding CoppaFeel!’s mission
● identifying key breast cancer statistics
● explaining the principles of breast awareness
● describing signs and symptoms and how to check
● exposing common breast cancer myths vs facts
● recognising when to make referrals
● identifying opportunities to have the ‘chest check chat’
● signposting patients to key resources
CoppaFeel! was founded in 2009 to raise awareness among young people about getting to know their bodies and the importance of detecting any unusual changes early. They work nationally to encourage young people to check their breasts and pecs regularly; know the signs and symptoms; and feel confident to act upon noticing any changes.
This module is accessible for all healthcare professionals but particularly GPs, nurses, school nurses, midwives and sexual health professionals.
