About the UKONS Telephone Triage Training programme

The telephone triage training modules have been developed to support staff that undertake telephone triage of oncology and haematology patients using the UKONS 24hr triage tool. The online training consists of four modules that will discuss, the principles of telephone assessment; the UKONS 24hr triage tool explored; governance and the final module which includes several real-life scenarios for the learner to explore.

More information

This educational programme has been developed to support the large number of individuals and organisations who utilise the UKONS triage tool in everyday practice. The aim is to provide a standardised programme that can be used as a basis for staff training and education in the use of this specific triage process and to also provide generic information and guidance relating to organisational governance and the safe delivery of telephone assessment.

Primary and secondary audiences

All staff that undertake telephone assessment of cancer patients. This will also include service managers and practice educators. Predominantly secondary care but may also be useful for colleagues working in primary care and the voluntary sector
