Enrol now for Level 3 Safeguarding Adults

The first run of the level 3 safeguarding adults free online course starts on Monday 27 January 2020, lasting for three weeks (weekly study: one hour).

This online course contributes towards the achievement of level 3 safeguarding competencies, as set out in Safeguarding for Adults: Roles and Competencies.

Topics covered include:

  • Taking part in, and contributing to, wider multi-disciplinary safeguarding meetings
  • The challenges of complex safeguarding concerns
  • How communication, information sharing, and confidentiality contribute to effective safeguarding
  • Professional and contemporaneous safeguarding documentation
  • Reflective practice and the role of supervision in safeguarding.

Developed in partnership with the Safeguarding Adults National Network, this online course is just one of a set of national resources for level 3 and 4 safeguarding adults training that HEE is making freely available to all health and care staff from the end of January 2020.

Accompanying the level 3 online course, will be a facilitator guide to run complementary face to face training in your organisation. This will be made available on the elfh Hub at the end of January.

For level 4 safeguarding adults, staff will be able to access a gap analysis tool to discover relevant resources based on their current knowledge and skills, log their work-based learning and have access to a programme of live webinars on ‘hot topics’ running throughout 2020.

Level 4 safeguarding adults live webinar programme for 2020

In conjunction with NHS England and NHS Improvement, HEE are offering a programme of four live webinars throughout 2020 to support staff needing to attain competence at level 4 safeguarding adults. The topics and dates are:

  • Self-neglect and inherent jurisdiction – Monday 10 February 2020, 12-1pm. Enrolment is now open for this webinar, to register click here and select ‘join as a participant’, then ‘Registration’.
  • Fabricated and induced illness – Monday 4 May 2020, 12-1pm.
  • People in positions of trust – Monday 13 July 2020, 12-1pm.
  • Issues between different organisations – Monday 23 November 2020, 12-1pm.

Recordings of the live sessions will be made available on the elfh website if you are unable to attend the live sessions.

Enrol now to join the live webinar ‘Self-neglect and inherent jurisdiction’ taking place on Monday 10 February 2020, 12-1pm.

This webinar will be delivered by Kenny Gibson, National Head of Safeguarding, NHS England and NHS Improvement, and topics covered will include:

  • What is self-neglect?
  • What causes self-neglect?
  • Relevant legislation
  • What is inherent jurisdiction?
  • When does it apply?

This webinar is designed for named professionals, including lead doctors, heads of adult safeguarding, and named GPs/doctors for organisations commissioning primary care as well as named professionals working in provider or commissioning services.

The interactive session will meet the following Safeguarding Level 4 learning outcomes.
