NHSE Learning Hub Migration – Cleaning for Confidence programme

On 24 May 2024, the Cleaning for Confidence programme will move from the elfh Hub to the NHSE Learning Hub as part of a planned upgrade of our learning platforms.

The Learning Hub is a national digital learning platform providing easy access to a wide range of educational resources and support for the health and care workforce and educators. You are auto enrolled on the Learning Hub with your elfh account and new users can sign up for free.

What you need to do

If you have started this programme on the elfh Hub and require a certificate, please complete all relevant programme resources before midnight on 23 May 2024. After this date, a record of your activity on the elfh Hub will still be available in the ‘My Activity’ area in your elfh account, including any certificates.

If you are unable to complete the programme by midnight 23 May 2024, you can wait and complete it from the 24 May 2024 on the NHSE Learning Hub. Your activity on the NHSE Learning Hub is recorded in the ‘My Learning’ section, including any certificates.

We will issue a notification and a link to the resource once it is live on the NHSE Learning Hub. This link will also feature on the programme webpage from the 20th November 2023.

About the Cleaning for Confidence Programme

This elearning programme was developed in partnership with Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) and NHS England and NHS Improvement (Midlands).

The programme outlines the fundamentals of cleaning to everyone within the NHS family, with the aim of reducing the risks of cross-infection during the care of our patients, and promoting confidence in our patients and service users in continuing to access NHS services.

Why is Cleaning for Confidence important

  • Keeping NHS premises safe and clean for our patients is a commitment that we all share, and it is something that has never been more important than right now
  • Every single person within the NHS family has a part to play in maintaining that commitment to keeping people safe

  • A clean workplace is our first and best defence in stopping the spread of infections, including COVID-19.

More information

The Cleaning for Confidence elearning programme was initially developed to build upon staff knowledge of the good cleaning practices that can help to stop the spread of COVID-19 and other infections where you work, in clinical or non-clinical settings. The programme is continuing with bespoke modules for settings, supporting the vital impact that cleaning has on reducing all healthcare associated infections.

  • An Introduction: this session provides learners with fundamental knowledge about Cleaning for Confidence.
  • Vaccination Sites: this session provides guidance on hand hygiene, using PPE and the core cleaning principles for vaccination sites.
  • Intensive and Critical Care Units: this session provides guidance on effective infection prevention and control interventions, to minimise risk of environmental transmission.
  • Ambulances: This session provides information around the principles underpinning the necessary level of cleanliness in ambulances.

The elearning sessions take approximately 20 minutes to complete and a certificate will be generated on completion of the sessions

Everyone who completes the Cleaning for Confidence programme will become a cleaning champion, having demonstrated their commitment to keeping colleagues, patients and their families safe each and every day.
